BeyondPod for Android - Main Features

  • One application for all your podcasting needs. You can subscribe to RSS feeds, read posts, download and play Audio and Video podcasts – all in a single application.
  • Supports Atom, RSS 2.0, RDF and OPML feeds. Feeds can be read even while you are offline.
  • Sophisticated podcast download engine gives you complete control of how many podcasts to download and how long to keep the old versions. Updates and podcast downloads can be executed in the background while you read the feed content.
  • BeyondPod provides full control over what is being downloaded over your data connection. You can update a single feed, feeds in a given category, or all feeds. You can download a single podcast, the latest podcasts or all podcasts for a given feed. Nothing happens without your knowledge. Podcast downloads can be scheduled to occur at specific time, only when connected to WiFi, or only when the phone is charging. BeyondPod also offers an option to automatically Turn WiFi on - Update - Turn WiFi off.
  • Integrated podcast player tracks automatically what podcasts you have listened to including an option to automatically delete podcasts at the end of playback to save space. There is also a configurable TiVo style "commercial skip" that lets you easily skip over parts that you are not interested in
  • BeyondPod features a Smart Playlist that automatically generates playlist based on your listening preferences (for example: First play the 2 newest podcasts of feed A, Then play the 1 oldest podcast of Feed B etc.). If you follow multiple podcasts Smart Playlist is an excellent way to always listen to what you want.
  • BeyondPod features a Home Screen player Widget that offers a convenient "One Button" access to your podcasts directly from the phone Home screen (including starting a "SmarPlay", and updating the feeds included in "SmartPlay")
  • Integration with Google Reader allows you to easily import your Reader subscriptions. BeyondPod will also synchronize the "Read" and "Starred" status of individual posts so you can read the same feed on both PC or Phone.
  • Feeds can be assigned to various categories (News, Sports, Technology etc.) to allow for a convenient filtering based on given topic.
  • BeyondPod offers a variety of ways to discover new podcasts and RSS feeds. You search for feeds using a phrase, import feeds from variety of podcast/feed directories, or import feeds from Google Reader or external OPML files.
  • You can create "virtual" feeds based on a content of a local folder (for example if you listen to audio books)
  • BeyondPod supports both the hardware buttons of the wired Headset or buttons on your stereo Bluetooth receiver (using AVRC profile)
  • The Sleep feature allows you to automatically turn the podcast playback off after 30, 60 or 90 minutes.
