Upgrading BeyondPod for Tablets to 4.0

Starting with v4.0, BeyondPod is a single universal application that runs equally well on both phones and tablets. If you currently have the tablet version, we recommend that you un-install it before switching to 4.0. The best way to do upgrade is:

  1. Do a backup (Menu > More > Settings > Backup and Restore > Backup). You may want to use the "Share Backup" option to save the backup to DropBox or Google Drive.
  2. Un-install the (old) tablet version.
  3. Install the new universal (4.0) version from our BETA page.
  4. Restore the backup (start BeyondPod, open the left navigation drawer, then: Settings > Backup and Restore > Restore)

IMPORTANT! If your tablet runs Android KitKat AND you have moved the episode download folder to the External SD card, all your downloaded episodes will be deleted when you un-install. If you want to keep your episodes, you have to move them back to the internal SD card BEFORE doing the steps above.

To make the transition a bit easier for our BETA users, for the duration of the BETA, we will be releasing a separate (parallel) BETA that can be used to upgrade the Tablet version (without the need of un-install/reinstall). You can get it from here. If you decide to use it, keep in mind that we will stop releasing the tablet upgrade versions once 4.0 goes live on the Play Store (...so you have to do the switch above sooner or later).
